The citywide #WALK30 health campaign kicked off in January 2023 to create a pathway for CEOs, organizational leaders, families and individuals to “Take the Healthy Pledge” and inspire others to walk for 30 minutes each day, wherever you are, and then share walking activity and its impacts on personalized social media posts: Houston’s CEOs Take the Pledge to #WALK30.
Along with our well-known #WALK30 health campaign, Fit Houston facilitates FREE Community Walking Groups across Greater Houston in many languages and in many neighborhoods.

Our Fit School Program offers a "bike library" containing up to 20 high-quality bicycles for elementary school campuses. Along with our donation of a bike library, the Fit Houston team provides training sessions for organizing bike rodeos and traffic safety education. The bikes remain at the school, benefiting thousands of students over the years through sustainable programs that make a lasting impact.

Many neighborhoods in Houston have low or no access to gyms to improve strength and conditioning. Fit Houston is creating a network of outdoor fitness parks called FitLots throughout the city that will serve as community health hubs for free access to fitness equipment and fitness programming that all Houstonians can benefit from for generations to come. https://fitlot.org/houston2036/

Fit Houston is developing a shared agenda around free physical activity with partners across Greater Houston. Strong partnerships are essential for every community to be well and stay physically active. The Fit Houston Healthy City Initiative meets monthly.

Our Pop Up Fitness events in the community excite and educate people on the benefits of staying active! As a follow up to Pop Up Fitness, we can train community leaders to start free walking programs for sustained physical activity.
